In nearly every way, these frames look like normal prescription glasses. In fact, Google announced it'll work with Warby Parker (my go-to glasses brand for years) and swanky South Korean eyeglass brand Gentle Monster (Beyoncé and Rihanna wear them) for actual frame designs when they ship.

It spent quite some time during its keynote laying out its vision for what smart glasses might be able to do via its Android XR smart glasses platform and supporting hardware made with Xreal. The possibilities are enticing.

Android XR is still in the early stages, but I got to try a prototype pair at Google I/O. The hardware looks promising, and it should benefit from changing attitudes about smart glasses.
