Microsoft introduced a new installer to make it easier to code with the No. 1 programming language, Java, in the No. 1 development environment, Visual Studio Code.

Visual Studio Code has a long list of Java extensions, not all of which are compatible with each other. The easiest way to get started is to install the Coding Pack for Java on Windows or macOS.

Java for Visual Studio Code now gets SonarLint 'spellchecker' tool, while the Python extension gets a new debugger.
