Luckily, Mojang has made installing a resource pack incredibly easy. The following tutorials are only for the Java and Windows 10 editions of Minecraft.

Unlike the old days, Minecraft Java edition and Bedrock (now known as Windows) edition are a package deal meaning you can’t mess up and accidentally purchase the wrong version.

Minecraft has a ton of different versions. However, the versions that are most popular are game’s Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, Windows 10 Edition, and the spin-off game, Minecraft Dungeons.

Microsoft’s free Minecraft for Windows 10 giveaway ends at midnight for Java players Legacy Minecraft: Java Edition players can still snag free codes to the Windows 10 Edition until midnight.

Just note that mods and resource packs only work with the "Java Edition" of "Minecraft," available for Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.

If you missed your chance the first time around, Mojang has allowed more players to redeem their free copy of Minecraft on Windows 10 if they already own the Java Edition.
