Dozens of Walgreens locations are preparing to close in the coming weeks and months after the pharmacy giant announced plans to shutter about 1,200 stores to turn around its struggling U.S. business.

Walgreens announced this past fall that it will close about 1,200 stores over three years amid a decline in prescription drug payments and a rise in online competition.About 500 of those closures will be in 2025.

The pharmacy giant, Walgreens will shutter 1,200 stores across the United States in the coming weeks and months, according to Nexstar. The news comes after the store chain announced in October that around 500 locations would close to optimize Walgreen’s footprint and close underperforming stores.
