In the first French Open since Rafael Nadal’s retirement, Carlos Alcaraz is a strong favorite to defend his title in Paris as Spanish great Carlos Moyá tells CNN Sports.

For Sabalenka to win this year’s French Open she will have to wrestle the title from the four-time champion, Iga Swiatek. Swiatek has won 35 of 37 matches at Roland Garros, including 21 in a row, but she has not won a title since she beat Jasmine Paolini in the French final last year.

Carlos Alcaraz will try to defend his 2024 Roland Garros title at the 2025 French Open, which begins on Sunday. Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner in Rome and was a finalist in Barcelona, so it has been a successful clay-court swing for him thus far.

The French Open is entering a new era this year now that Rafael Nadal has retired. Players tend to agree that it is a shame fans no longer will get to see him play at a tournament he won a record 14 times.

French Open tennis star Alexander Zverev has revealed his plane was stuck by lightning to force an emergency landing en route to Paris. Zverev, a runner-up in the men’s singles at Roland-Garros in 2024, has opened up about the incident which occurred mid-air during the flight.
