Sweden opened their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a stunning 5-1 win over Tunisia as two superb Yasin Ayari long-rangers sandwiched goals from Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Mattias Svanberg.

The Dutch have gone deeper in more tournaments since but have not quite reestablished the place in the upper firmament of European nations that seemed to slip away from them after their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

Tunisia have sacked head coach Sabri Lamouchi following the side's defeat in their opening World Cup 2026 fixture. Sweden inflicted a heavy 5-1 defeat on Tunisia in Sunday's Group F tie at the Estadio Monterrey in Guadalupe,
