Ellis currently uses Echolalia and there is a purpose for this. Echolalia is the repetition of speech by a child that is learning to talk. Many autistic children use Echolalia by repeating learnt phrases from people or videos they have watched. Ellis uses Echolalia to either: 1. Self regulate (a form a verbal stimming) 2. To process learnt language at a later date or time (delayed echolalia) 3. To communicate, for example repeating the last 1-2 words to mean “yes”. I may say “do you want to go f
