Mortgage rates dipped slightly Thursday but stayed in a narrow range after a stronger-than-expected January jobs report. The average 30-year fixed rate fell to 6.09%, down from 6.11% last week, compared with 6.87% a year ago, according to Freddie Mac. The U.S. added 130,000 jobs in January, pushing unemployment to 4.3%, the lowest since August, with gains in health care, social assistance, and construction.
