Only those who have been in America less than four years, and score below the 20th percentile on an English proficiency exam were admitted. By 1994, 43 countries and 36 languages were spoken within the student body. While this was an alternative high school, attendance was over 90% and its entire first class went on to college which was an anomaly

Kinkaku-ji (The Golden Pavilion) is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. Officially named Rokuon-ji, it was originally built in 1397 as the retirement villa of shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, and later became a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect. The pavilion’s top two stories are covered in gold leaf, and the building is reflected in the surrounding Kyōko-chi (Mirror Pond). The current structure was rebuilt in 1955 after a fire in 1950.
